I was just wondering... can you buy an iphone without activating it? I was thinking about doing this, and just using it like an itouch? I already have a free phone so I don't want to pay the ridiculous charges for an unlimited data plan. And considering it's 130 bucks cheaper (and basically an iphone w/o the phone), I was just wondering if it was a possibility?
I guess I could always just cancel the plan after I get it, but I was also wondering if you can even get on the thing if it's not connected to an AT&T plan? sorry if this is answered already.

You have to get the data plan, but as you say you can cancel b4 30 days. You then have to pay fees though and make sure you don't miss the date. There is a thread about all the mess involved with that that is on here that was opened today or yesterday. You could also just get the touch.

Sounds like the fees would defeat the purpose... I'll look for a touch. What about iphones that are on ebay? no plan, no activation... ? no? lol

Okay, I am assuming you're talking about a subsidized iPhone 3G ($99) ??

AT&T doesn't just sell phones at subsidized prices to people off the street.

I really think an iPod Touch is best for you.

ya the $99.I think you're right.

so go with the touch... lol I was thinking I could pull if off somehow, but sounds like it will actually be more to go that route.

Remember that the new iPod Touch is being delivered with a camera and a microphone and all the necessary ingredients to operate the iPod Touch via WiFi to be utilized with the phone options via phone apps.....:cool::cool:
