iPhone Activation

I sold my wife’s iPhone X. We wiped the phone and removed her SIM however the the new owner is trying to put in their SIM card the phone will not activate without my phone number, last four of social and zip code even though my SIM isn’t in the phone. Is there any work around this? She can’t even get past the setup screen on the phone.
 
Not sure, but you could log into your iCloud account and remove iPhone from it. Did you turn off Find My iPhone before you wiped it?
