i was literally going to get the pro but decided to try the air, with a possibility of returning it in exchange for the base model, simply because the pro is so ugly. the design won't stand the test of time. 2 years in and it'll look outdated as hell

I agree completely. Even if you can stomach that design right now cause at least it's something different, I doubt you will be able to for too long. I predict it will be replaced very quickly.

Lots of people would argue that there's nothing wrong with Apple, that they're doing well as reflected by sales, share prices, and other quantifiable metrics. But thing is, so is Amazon. So is Microsoft.
