We've vaguely discussed this, but I was just wondering about people's thoughts on whether or not you will be able to get an iPhone with Family plan.

Although I'm out of college, my parents have been kind enough to keep me on their family plan with Cingular/ATT. (It was a graduation present until I really get on my feet) I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts (since we obviously don't have any official information) over how I could get an iPhone.

I understand there has been some thoughts about ATT not allowing the iPhone with Family plan...personally I'm trying to figure out what the difference would be between Family plan and regular plan. I'm the only one on the plan getting an iPhone---what would be the difference between being on a Family plan and being the sole person on a plan...

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to get an iPhone on a Family Plan. Each line exists by itself and each line has its own contract. I'm in college and am on my Dad's Family Plan and I wouldn't know why they would not let a line that is either eligible for upgrade or someone who is willing to open a new line on a Family Plan buy an iPhone. With that being said, if you are not the account holder key information is needed to set up or change plans. I worked at Best Buy and basic info to access most accounts is a phone number on the account (not necessarily the primary account number) and the last four digits of the account holder's social security number. If you have that info, you should be set. Here's to hoping there will be no issue setting up an iPhone with a Family Plan.
