Is it possible to write an app for the iPhone and iPad that is business specific? Rather than submitting it to the AppStore for everyone to download it will only be available for the business it was specifically written for?

If so how do you go about this?

    Ad Hoc Distribution
With Ad Hoc distribution you can share your application with up to 100 other iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch users. Through email or by posting it to a website or server, users can download and install your app.

There is an enterprise developer program for $299 per year that allows you to do just that. There isn't the 100 device limitation with that program.

You are correct, I had forgotten about that.

    Distribute Your In-house Apps
Distribute your proprietary, in-house iOS apps to employees or members of your organization. You can also securely host and wirelessly distribute or update in-house apps to employees, keeping them current anywhere, anytime.
