My Phone will be a year old soon and I was wondering If I should purchase the applecare for it? I have read that some people think that it is a waste, but I am not sure if I should or not. I am going to get the model that comes out next year (hopefully something very nice) the 3gs just didnt motivate me enough to want to upgrade yet. So I will be keeping my current 3G until July of next year so should I get a applecare warranty?

Is it worth $69 + tax to you to cover yourself in case the phone fails? Most things I've read about in this forum that require attention result in phone replacement, not repair. If you don't buy AppleCare, and your phone needs to be replaced, it's likely to cost you more than $69 + tax....right?

I did... I thought it was worth it. I had to replace my phone 2 times due to defects in the phone. Chances are in the next year I will have to replace it at least one more time. Better safe than sorry. Im sure now that I paid for the service my phone will never have problems but thats okay with me.

I think it is worth it. As long as you're not more likely to accidentally damage it between now and the end of the next year since accidental/water damage isn't covered. Make sure the water indicators are still white before you purchase it, you wouldn't want to get a surprise later after you've spent the money. Sometimes they can get tripped from high humidity or 1 drop of rain that falls into the headphone jack.

Otherwise, $69 says Apple will replace your phone for you if it becomes defective. If it is out of warranty, it will cost you $199. So, if you get it replaced once you've already made out quite a bit. I purchase Apple Care on all of my products.
