Took them long enough! I swear, there seems to be a recurring theme of Apple taking way too long to deliver very obvious requests for features to iPadOS. Hell, I'm still waiting on true multi-user support. Also, these multi-tasking improvements help, but we still need better.

I could think of a few things that would be miles ahead of having landscape iPhone apps on iPad ….like a native calculator or weather app, or multi user login. This WWDC was proof of the pandemic effect and maybe why people that work at apple should get their butts back in the office.

When I see iPhone apps on my iPad, I delete them. Don't want those inferior apps running unless iPadOS 15 supported running dozens of them in separate windows on a screen or external monitor.

Does this only work on an iPad Pro? I’m not seeing it on the ipad 6th gen. (I also don’t see the landscape apple logo on boot)

That's great. But I still want a fully functional version of Instagram on the iPad.
That’s a Facebook problem tho. Not an Apple problem. Apple just gave you a workaround that’s pretty good. So can’t you just enjoy it and give credit where credit’s due?

Depending on the answer to a very important question (to me), I'm pleased.

There is lots of snark in the comments (I realize that is a shocking reveal!) - but I for one am glad. True, major apps such as Instagram will benefit (and I absolutely agree there is little excuse for a well established app such as Instagram failing to support a truly native iPad app, but I digress...) - but what I am happiest about is games. I've lost track of how many times I've acquired an acclaimed game, only to find that it only runs in portrait mode. I immediately delete, no matter how well received the game has been.

All of which brings up my question... what about native iPad apps which only run in portrait? Will they also benefit, can they be set to landscape? If the answer to that is "no", then it's less impressive (and yes, at least with some games, I have found there are so-called "native" iPad apps which are limited to portrait).

How about letting us run iOS/iPadOS apps on M1 Macs, M1 Macs have been out since November and there is hardly nothing on the Mac App Store. 🙄

Make it mandatorily for these developers to offer their apps on M1 Macs.

Biggest collection of apps 🤦‍♂️ doesn't look like.

What took forever for this simple thing ? I moved to Apple more than a decade ago for a relief from all the software bugs of Microsoft. Lately Apple rushes out updates full of bugs and their "features" are catching up to things available on Android- even Blackberries years ago! I know "walled garden", SMH

Why would an Apple branded weather or calculator app be more important than the generate case of being able to use iPhone apps on an iPad? There are already lots of weather and calculator apps so you have options. We never had a way to run the iPhone apps without twisting the iPad into portrait mode, which is super clunky when you are using a keyboard.

Again - as with a lot of other things (Safari extensions, multiple Watch timers, iPadOS in general) the running theme of this WWDC has been: "Wait. It didn't have that feature already?"

My point is theres very few people using iPhone apps on iPad

Apps not written natively for both orientations is simply lazy development IMHO.

I'm actually a bit peeved that Apple did not enforce a rule that requires developers to support both, outside of apps that absolutely require landscape mode in order to function correctly.

Theres quite a few shopping sites that require the App in order to avail of vouchers and shipping promos. But never bothered to develop a native iPad one.
