iphone apps to free up space.

If you want to free up some space in photo album you can try google photos (though it will compress photos, maybe).
Also: box, Dropbox, Google drive will give you free cloud storage.
But, there's no microSD tray or app that will magically give you space. You have to do some cleaning in your phone to free up space: photos, text photos, (and make sure to go to recently deleted folder in photos and delete the photos AGAIN. FFS Apple....)

If you mean, are there apps you can install onto your phone to save space on your phone, no. There aren't any negative mass or black hole apps currently available.

never heard of such apps. But from time to time, I upload my photo album on my comp and delete all photos from my phone since they take up the most space. FYI, The Facebook app takes up a huge amount of space and data on your phone! You may want to take 5 mins to delete the apps that take up the most space that you barely use. You'd be surprised how much space you free up.
