iPhone @ ATT store but can't pick up till tomorrow??

Fedex says it should be delivered by 3pm today (23rd) so I called ATT store to ask if i can pick it up today.

"preorders are tomorrow"

"even if its at the store today and you have cases today?"

"yes"

WTF🙁
