iphone back up from pc to new Mac

i have a PC now but getting a new Macbook, how do i move my iPhone back up from the pc to the mac, i think im gonna transfer my itunes onto a external hard drive then into the Mac, will a iphone back up go with it?

i would like to know this also, i know on the pc where the iphone backup file is kept
"C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup"

i know this because my netbook had a major virus on it and i couldnt be bothered to fix it. i keep a regular backup of everything on my pc so i just reinstalled xp again.
and then added those backup files back to there folder!

but whether its transferable to a mac im not so sure

Yes, the backup should be located within the iTunes media folder, unless you changed the directory 😎
