iPhone 7/Plus Iphone backup failed

More icloud back up problems. It doesn't want to work for me it seems.
"You do not have enough space in icloud to back up this Iphone. Add Icloud storage to continue backing up."
So I check on my iphone and it says 687 MB of 5 GB used.

Is the size of your backup over 5gb? If so, that’s why it won’t backup

You need to see how big your photo library is as well as all the other things listed in iCloud on the phone. You can find that in settings/general/iPhone storage

Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups

Tap on the backup for your phone and it’ll tell you what the next backup size is. If it’s more than 5 GB, then as @BugeyeSTI said, that’s the reason why the backup won’t complete.
