I had an iphone and had all my contacts and photos on it. I recently dropped it and bought a brand new iphone. I set up my new iphone and just got all new contacts. I would like to restore my old iphones data and contacts onto my new iphone. how would i go about doing this?

You plug in the new iphone to your itunes and then select restore from backup.

As long as you had backed up your iPhone prior to it being broken you will be able to restore your new iPhone to the old iPhone's state. Just plug the iPhone to your computer and in iTunes select the iPhone and hit Restore from Backup. Select the backup that you wish to restore to and give it a few minutes to do its magic.

I'm a little confuse about the backup. Is it safe to backup the iPhone every time I plugin the phone to my laptop? Also I'm not sure if I should back with iCloud.
