I had this problem a while back with my 2g. I think what I did was delete all the old backups (can't remember where they're stored.. Google it) then just sync and it should be back to normal.

Do you think maybe you have a lot of text messages? I remember I never deleted my messages and kept all conversations, and my phone had a considerable lag. Then I decided to remove them and it took a while, but my phone would no longer lag nearly as bad as it would.

This is one reason why I want to start then new iPhone fresh to avoid corrupt data transferring over, but Im afraid of losing progress in some apps.

what do you mean by "the app taht is left"

if I unsync all the apps via itunes, will the corrupt app still sync becuase its corrupt?

or rather, it won't unsync.. I guess.

Sorry if you unsync the apps via iTunes you will find there is one left. That's the app with corrupt data.

Tbh your best bet is to just delete the apps. Even with loads of apps and no backup for years it should still take a few minutes.

It's taken me 3 hours to fill a 32GB iPhone to the brim with music (2000+ songs) and videos (15-20 episodes of Top Gear). Lots of small files take longer to transfer, of course. And I'm running my iPhone dock through a USB 2.0 hub (which is probably bottlenecking it to some degree).

That said, it should never take more than 8-10 hours to backup, even at USB 1.1 speeds (32GB at 12 Mbit is 6 hours, so figure speeds aren't as fast as advertised and you're still not going to pass 10 hours).

Ok so, I cancelled the sync, deleted a bunch of apps from my phone (except the ones I don't want to lose data on and hope they aren't the issue) and I resynced it, so far, its further than it went in 24 hours and its only been like 24 minutes..

when reinstalling apps, shoudl I update them with itunes first then install them via itunes so i'm sure to get fresh files?

I won't reinstall all the apps I deleted as some of them I didn't use anyhow.
