So I recently backed up my old 3G, good thing I did because it died today. So now I have a 4S. Well I went to restore from the old backup but the only one in there was an old backup. Good thing I thought this would happen so I copied the backup from the mobilesync folder.

Well after replacing the old backup with the one I did last night, iTunes still doesn't recognize it in there. I thought maybe it was just acting funny so I restored it, but it's definitely pulling from an old backup instead of the new one.

So my question is, how can I get iTunes to pull from this new backup I have? I figured it would do it, and I thought I was following all the right steps but once again apple's backup and restore feature fails.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

This happened to me when my iPhone 4S needed a replacement due to a cracked screen, I eventually realized that the phone was not upto date and once I updated to the newest iOS version all my new backups were available for me to restore from.
