When i purchased my iphone it was 1.1.4 and the wifi worked. I upgraded it to 2.2 jailbroken and now the wifi does not work. I'm assuming i need to downgrade the baseband for it to work again. I have tried to reset all network settings already.

Any other things i can try to resolve the wifi issue? And if i do bring it into an apple store, will they care that its jailbroken? i'm assuming they would.
Hmm this is odd. I can connect to wifi networks now. And when i'm at the home screen the little wifi icon shows up. But once i go into any app that requires the internet, the icon immediately switches to the edge icon and tells me i'm not subscribed to cellular data service. Which is true.

Wow I would think that it would be the opposite. If you aren't subscribed to a data service why would you want to use edge? it will just cost more, wifi is free even if your phone isn't activated. It is using an existing internet network not cell phone data networks.
If i'm lucky the wifi network is detected. Sometimes the network is detected but is "unable to connect". And other times i can connect but once i choose an app it immediately goes back to EDGE. When i first upgraded to 2.2 the wifi worked but the cellular network did not. So i decided to re-jailbreak and now the wifi does not work and the cell network does.

Sounds like you should restore your phone (un-jailbreak) and make an appointment with an Apple Genius if there is a store close by. Something funky is going on.
