Mine gets more! Go to the Apple Store to check It. Apple is one of the only companies that actually gets to the advertised battery!

On the MBP in my sit, I was getting somewhere between 9-10 hours on Sierra. Since updating to High Sierra, it’s literally been cut in half under the exact circumstances/workloads

Battery isn't gonna significantly improve in the next 10 years (if it was we would know about the possible techniques by now and the testing would be farther than the theoretical possibilities for battery technics are now), so what they should focus on is better more efficient charging of the batteries.
How about focusing on not making the batteries smaller and phones thinner?

The phone has been about the same thickness or even thicker for many years yet people like you still whine about it regardless, so what will you whine about next?

One of the reason the battery gets smaller is that they're packing more and more stuff inside the phone (thart's why it is not getting smaller). Process improvement allows it to last more time even with a slightly smaller battery.

How about improve the battery so the screen can be always on, like an actual watch?

That is probably a bridge too far. And I'm not sure I want my watch always glowing at me anyway. I certainly don't want it to do so in the dark.

Because the phone would be too heavy. People always seem to forget that more battery = more weight. And since people are already complaining about the weight of the X and the Note 8...

The thinness has gotten to ridiculous levels. It would be nice (though, that's not their MO) if Apple would create larger phones for those who'd like the tradeoff of greater battery life, but are fine with having a heavier and larger phone.

Add a battery case. You’ll have created a heavier larger phone with better battery life without Apple having to cater to you.

I'd agree, but haven't people been complaining about how inelegant that is? There seems to be a big fuss about function AND form of Apple products. Plus, a case means you'll need to take it out for certain things now.

Well then there are two other choices. Increase the size of the phone, which penalizes the majority of people who don’t want the size and weight. Or introduce yet more variations of iPhone. Probably one new one for each existing (lest people whine “why can’t I have (this particular model) with bigger battery” which also penalizes everyone else by distracting Apple, complicating their supply chains, causing stocking problems, etc. (2 thicknesses times N colors times four models [surely we can’t leave the SE out of this nightmarish scenario])

I don’t want to live in such a world.

FB is a requirement in my family, which spread all over the planet. :/

My parents were in Canada, and staying with friends,, the kid was at the dinner table not eating, but instead looking down and replying to Facebook messages..

These days you can't even have dinner without being interrupted..

We ban mobile phones at the dinner table. It's the one thing my family agree on without exception, for it's considered extremely rude not to talk to each other when we eat. Even the teenagers support this. We also ban watching TV or listening to the radio during meals....

You have infinite choices now -any battery case you want.

Apple trying to manufacture and distribute 50 different iPhone models (I forgot to include multiple variations for different carriers) can only end in disaster.

I used to believe this kind of reasoning back when Apple products were fully debugged when released. Now I am not so sure that Apple products are actually better in terms of quality control, even if they offer fewer variants of their products.

Imagine how much worse things would be, though. (I agree - this last year has been awful in terms of quality control)

Something happened! I'm on high Sierra and I get 10 hours!
Go get it checked, or look for some application that is not updated

Wow. Someone posted a link to this article in reference to the "Apple Being Sued for 'Puposefully Slowing Down Older iPhone Models'" topic. This move sheds a bit of light onto the power management / battery life issues that have arisen over the last few days. The throttling topic has garnered more than 2000 comments in 4 days.

Not sure why anyone cares about batteries lasting longer than a solid day. Everyone charges at night, so who cares?

If you're one of them "road warriors", then I can see that. You use your phone HEAVILY, and it can run down to 0% within hours. Not long enough to last the day.

Longer lasting means less degradation on battery from charging wear and tear. If a battery is good for 500 cycles then it would last for about 1 year 4 four months at 1 charge per day. At 1 charge every two days it'll last about 2 years 8 months. 2 day battery life is so 2012 though. We should be at 1 business week battery life by now.

What do you mean should? Technology isn’t magic. We should be able to teleport now too. Doesn’t work that way, buddy.
