I would try unpairing the Watch from your phone and re-pairing it. Also, restart your phone. Do you know for a fact that it is the Watch that's draining the phone battery?

Settings says 61% of my battery is going to messages in the past 3 days

I think it is an iOS 10 problem.

If I un-pair and re-pair, can I use my backup or should I set it up as a new watch?

Start using your backup and see if that helps, if not redo as new. Most the time the unpaid and pair will solve problems.

Thank you, I re-paired it and used my backup and it seems better already after an hour of use.
But I'll see at the end of the day!

I had to do this maybe two time since I got my AW1 at introduction. It always fixed my problem.

    Enjoy!
