I got my iphone yesterday, and was so thrilled. It is the most amazing phone I have ever touched (was using sucky Treo 650). The edge in Chicago is pretty fast, way faster than on my treo.

Anyways... I started out the day fully charged, and did some light surfing (maybe 10 minutes) demoed a movie for a few minutes, and was listening to the ipod for maybe a total of 30minutes. Around 7 o'clock my phone just cuts out while I was listening to music, and I had a half battery charge left. The phone wouldn't turn on again after that.

So today I took it the Apple store, and the genius is like I've never seen this, after he had in the dock for 20 minutes, it finally fired back up, but we both agreed it would be better if I got a new one, because the battery should have lasted way longer. They replaced it, and I'm back in business.

I am glad to hear that Apple replaced your iPhone. I have been very happy with the batter life of the iPhone. I haven't run out of juice yet, but I do make sure to charge it every night.

    Enjoy your new iPhone.

i figure with close to a million iphones going out by now your bound to come accross a few lemons. Those lemons usually have a habit on showing up on forums making it sound worse then it actually is^^

Glad you were able to take care of it.

    Good that they returned it.

Some battery problems are much worse then others.

    It may improve

Many have noticed that battery life got much better after just a few days of charging... in my case about 3 or 4; now it could last me a week.

Apple replaced my phone after 10 days because with barely any use 30 min calls 1 hour email, etc, it was needing to be charged every 48 hours. I had charged it 6 times in 10 days and made 4 hours of calls and not done much web/mail or ipod stuff.

Yeah sounds like your first was a bad "apple" :p

I am nothing but happy with battery life. Much better performance than my Treo or my Q.

Hope your second has better results.

So after I got my second iPhone in as many days, I was putting a portective screen on it, when I noticed a small piece of rubber protudring on the bottam part of the screen where the screen meets the case, i tried to pull it and it ended up pulling out the lining all across the bottom.

Back to the apple store it was and they replaced it again.

I hoping on day three with my third iPhone, I wont have to go back the apple store.

You are complaining about recharging every 48 hours? That would be about normal. That's about the same time I am charging mine, I would consider that quite good.

Yes but I was using it for less than 1 hour, sometimes only 30 total mins of calls every 48 hours and very little other usage. No Wi-Fi. Imagine if I tried to get 6-8 hours talk, or watch 3-5 hours video. I don't think it would make it. Until I read the article that the Microsoft-Watch guy wrote saying he charged it 3 times in 2 weeks, I didn't even think about the fact it should get 240 hours standby. That's 10 days. So conservatively estimating, if I use it for nothing other than calls, no Wi-Fi, no mail, no maps, no safari, and no ipod, and made only an hour or two out of 6-8 possible, then I should still get 4-5 days standby minimum, and more like 6-8.

My replacement unit lasted the 1st twenty four hours with one 5 min call and the battery still hasn't dropped below full. Plus I use the alarm to wake me up.

So far one full day on my last charge, about 50% left and I have used the phone for just under 4 hours. Not bad at all. It's gonna get used more at work tonight.

Something is seriously wrong. My iPhone is going strong at 36 hours or more while my Treo 750 cuts out at 12 hours or less. Mileage may clearly vary!
