Iphone Battery Voltage ????

Can someone please tell me what the voltage should be between the red and black & white and black wires on a new iphone 2g battery..
As i would like to test it with a multimeter

iPhone 2G's (all iPhones, actually) have 3.7 volt batteries.

i assume the red is + , black - ,BUT what is the white wire

I would guess it's the ground? I think I read somewhere that the iPhone 2G is grounded to the case. Could also be signaling.
