iPhone black screen even after restore

Hi All,

I have an unusual problem with an iPhone 4 I had given to me. It was working then all of a sudden the screen is now black. I have put the device into DFU mode several time and tried a restore of IOS 4.3.3, sometimes the apple logo appears while doing the restore, other times I get nothing. The restore completes successfully every time according to itunes and you hear the iPhone reboot, once rebooted it is visible to itunes but I still can't see anything on the screen.

Any suggestions? I'm not sure the screen is the issue as I can see the logo during a restore sometimes.

Take it to an apple store. They should help you.

I'm not sure on the background of the phone or whether it is still covered under warranty as I have no receipt.

Are there any other suggestions before resorting to the apple store?
