I was in a tourist trap electronics store here in New York out of boredom. There were iPhone 'boxes' in the window, so this gentleman, maybe 50-ish, walks in and inquires about this device like he's never heard of it. He has a European accent of some sort, and really knows little if anything about it. He even thinks he can use it on T-Mobile! So this tourist guy asks to see the iPhone, and the *shady* staff tells him that they only have the box. They can't answer a single question about it accurately except that it's locked to AT&T. They confuse him further by telling him to "Go to a Cingular store." As a witness to this, and having my iPhone on me, I was going to demonstrate the iPhone for the man and direct him to the APPLE store on 5th Ave. since his newbie questions would likely get answered better. And being a tourist, it would be a nice experience for him. Well, he shirked me off and headed on his (confusing) way. I was taken aback because I was trying to HELP. But whatever. Shame on those folks for displaying the iPhone just to get customers. And I know they are shady because they ripped me off years ago.
