A friend of mine is visiting NYC shortly. He could buy me an iPhone as I'm livinig in a European Country which doesn't have the iPhone yet. Are there any buying restrictions on European Credit Cards when buying the iPhone in an Apple Store? Or is there anything else to consider for a European buying an iPhone in the US and then planning to unlock it?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks. But an officially unlocked iPhone from France costs me about twice as one bought in the US. But then again, it won't help me much when I can't unlock it (I wasn't aware that unlocking phones shipped with Firmware 1.1.2 isn't possible (yet)).

cheers!
