Strange one which I cannot find information about anywhere for.

My iPhone has developed a loud intermittent "buzzing" noise (sounds like it's vibrating)when playing back any music or ringtones either through the speaker or earphones. I thought it was a dodgy speaker originally (as that's what it sounds like), but having the same problem through earphones and the fact programs that have music/audio soundtracks like The Dig through ScummVM work fine without the odd noise. It's persistent but intermittent rederring the ipod side and ringtones unusable.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I've looked everywhere and cannot find anyone with a similar problem. It's a US phone running 1.1.1 and unlocked. I've tried upgrading to 1.1.2 but still has the same problem (i've rolled back so I can use ScummVM). Any help gratefully recieved!

you can use ESD plastic to stop the buzz. just cut a small piece and insert under the cover of your phone or tape it to the back. very simple and you can't even tell it's installed.

They are really cheap, you can purchase one here if you don't have one:

Sounds like something might be wrong with the phone.
I get that noise through speakers, car speakers, some TVs etc....

    But never through attached earphones
