iPhone CDMA w/ iUP?

Can you do the iPhone Upgrade Plan and get the Verizon/Sprint iPhone but be on AT&T? I know it's compatible with the network, but the iUP requires a connected account and I'm not sure you could get the Verizon version (better version IMO) while having an AT&T number. Has anyone tried this?
