Sweet, cheers. What happens if you use the iPad charger with the iPhone? Is it just downvolted (or w/e) to 5v?
The iPhone will charge faster but it has an inbuilt circuit that steps the amps down
Actually, I meant using the iPad's charger (10w) with the iPhone, rather than the iPhone's charger (5w) with the iPad.

So you're saying that when your iPad 3 is completely out of charge, you can stick it on your 5w iPhone charger and have it fully charged in 8 hours?
[Edit] - Just to be clear here, can you clarify exactly what charging kit is in this equation?
I'm presuming it's the standard white iPhone cable, connected to the white iPhone mains plug that came in the box, plugged in to the wall?

One of the battery's cells must be busted. You can't fully charge an 11.5 Ah battery with a 1 amp charger in 8 hours.
Mmm, it shouldn't. It takes six hours with a 10w charger, so with a 5w charger it should take about twelve.
