Apple isn't clear about the maximum wattage an iPhone X can charge at. I rather not spend $74.99 to get the 29W + USB Type C Power Delivery combo. I see an Anker 24W wall charger can work. Reddit users say they can get quick charge on that with their lightning cables. Amazon user reviews say that you can get quick charge. Where can I find the needed info to make sure that Anker is Apple/iPhone friendly plus be able to get quick charge compared to the standard 5V charger that comes with the phone? Thanks for the help.

Don’t buy that 24W Anker charger. It won’t fast charge your iPhone. You need their 30W or 60W PowerPort Speed 1 chargers in order to fast charge an iPhone 8/X via USB-C PD (power delivery).

Their 24W USB-C charger is geared towards Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 and has no fast charge capabilities for non QuickCharge devices.

In my opinion, fast charging isn’t worth getting if all you have is just an iPhone 8/X. If I had an iPad Pro or newer MacBook with a USB-C charger, then it might be worth it. The benefit in fast charging an iPhone is being able to fully charge 15-30min faster than an iPad equivalent charger. 15-30min isn’t going to kill me. Therefore, I’m sticking to Anker’s PowerPort 4 (not Speed 4) to charge my iOS devices.

if you don't already have an iPad brick, get that 24w 2 port charger from Anker for $10.99. it's heck of a lot faster than the 5w brick and no need to spend for the fast charging gimmick.

I have an iPad mini 4 brick.

Also there's a thread I saw on this board re: charge times pointed to usb pd was around 1:15 for 0-100%, 12w came in around 1:30.

The big benefit of USB-C PD is the charge speed from 0-80% is really fast. Once it hits 80% it drops down to normal 12w speeds.
