iphone comes with unlock protection???

my friend is planning to crack his phone for tmobile..my question it is possible..because other friend of me told me that recent phones comes with unlock protection..so it is not possible...

I just unlocked my friends new iphone that was 1.1.3.

My 16Gb iPhone is working on T-Mobile UK perfectly. Unlocked and Jailbroke on 1.13 and repeated for 1.14 using ZiPhone, zero issues.

I have unlocked OOTB 1.1.4- no problem. No such thing as unlock protection!
