iphone connect problems with new mbp

Hello, I just tried connecting my iphone to my new 15" mbp and I can't get itunes to recognise the phone (or my gf's ipod touch)... it connects fine with the older ipods I have knocking around...

the phone/touch starts charging up when connected.

the computer is authorised via itunes etc...

am I being stupid and missing something here? thanks in advance for the help!

Make sure all the software is up to date. Are they charging when you plug them in? I guess you could also make sure they're fully charged, they do need a certain amount of battery life to be able to connect.

Try rebooting your computer. There may be a problem in the USB communications, a reboot should clear that up.
