For the last three days my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4 has been constantly doing something on WIFI whenever I connect it via lightning cable to my mac. Its doing so much on WIFI that it actually makes web pages load slower on the mac and makes minecraft unplayably laggy on multiplayer.

I have absolutely no clue what its doing as iOS is updated fully, its not downloading music, apps, videos, podcasts or books. Or rather, it shouldn't be.

I haven't added any new apps in the last few days that would account for it but I suppose an app I had already might have updated and be causing it.

Ive tried restoring the phone today but it made no differences. The only solution right now is turning wifi off on the phone whenever I'm charging it which is a real pain.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Or if theres any way to find out what its doing? I cant find anyone talking about this issue online but maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing.

Thanks.

My guess is that your iPhone is being used as a personal hotspot by your Mac.

Disable personal hotspot in settings on your iPhone.
