iPhone Contacts Disappear - Solution

In nearly all the other posts in this thread the Contacts still exists in iCloud, and the solution has been to find a way to make the phone show or re-download them. Do your contacts still exist in iCloud (look at iCloud.com and your computer)?
If so I would concentrate on that first.
I don't know anything about FonePaw and similar but I would try the simple ways first.
