Would not trust this setting for an overnight, I noticed mine holds at 80 for awhile and eventually move on and starts charging past it if left on charger, found it at 95% yesterday and tested it today while keeping a closer eye, stayed at 80 for about 15 minutes and eventually started overcharging shortly after.

Mine is working perfectly. I charge overnight and it stays at 80%.

I read somewhere that sometimes the iPhone will automatically charge to 100% due to calibration.

"About 80% Limit with iPhone 15 models

With iPhone 15 models, you can choose between Optimized Battery Charging, 80% Limit, and None.

When you choose 80% Limit, your iPhone will charge up to about 80 percent and then stop charging. If the battery charge level gets down to 75 percent, charging will resume until your battery charge level reaches about 80 percent again.

With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates."

[Edit: This is new to me too. I did see one day where it charged to 94%, but it's been 80% ever since. Yesterday did a 8 hour drive with Carplay, and it stayed at 80% too. Nice feature for my usage pattern.]

I have never seen that article where it says it will go passed it sometimes. Okay, that makes sense if it’s intentional.

Yes same here. Sadly it’s been charging to 100% every day. It only worked for maybe 4 days. Dunno why this is happening.

Yeah mine did 80 first 4 days and is now determined to charge to 100 ever since. Apple gotta get that battery replacement cash down the road, along with what is now shaping up to be a lucrative back glass replacement business. 😂

Can anyone explain the difference between the battery graph in my photo and the one from jfim88’s post? I have set mine to 80 limit. My phone charges only to 80 but appears to charge the entire time. In jfim88 screenshot, the phone hits 80 and then shows as it is plugged in but not actively charging. Why is mine not doing that? Is it because clean energy charging may be turned on for that other phone?

I assume it is depleting and recharging to 80 as it sits on charger, not hurting anything as it never goes into a higher state of charge.

On another note, for those that are new showing up to this thread, as mentioned a few times here, Apple intentionally will charge the phone to 100% from time to time when set to hold at 80 to calibrate the battery, so this considered normal behavior, its expected behavior, although it seems to do it excessively.
