iphone crash due to stupidity

i have an unlocked iphone 3g i used the hide icons option to hide ALL my icons like an idiot. when the device attempted to apply this it stayed on the loading screen for a while then crashed and now i'm getting the apple of death until it reboots itself for all eternity. i have tried hard and soft reboots and nothing works. any wisdom?

It sounds like you are going to have to restore. Is your computer recognizing the iPhone?

well it knows its there but all it says is i need to upgrade itunes to 8.0 and nothing else
