iPhone Data Plan Start?

I was wondering when my iPhone data plan was going to kick in. I'm currently on my Blackberry with no Internet. I'm assuming that the plan will start once I activate it through iTunes but I could be wrong. Thanks for your time. :)
 
It will start when you activate the phone. I ordered one for my father in law, who currently has a basic Samsung featurephone, and had to select the $15 DataPlus during the order, but it's not listed as a feature on his line currently.
