You might have to if you want to open the box while they stand there to check if everything is there, before you sign. We all know there are going to be people who get hosed and open the box after they sign for it, only to find out the phone was stolen before it got your house. Then the run around between Apple and the delivery company for the blame, while the the poor sod waits for months for the issue to be resolved.

Paranoid much?

If I just happen to get a delivery before 10:00 AM and I have some cash on me, just maybe the driver will get a tip. However I expect that they wont even make the 3:00 PM deliver by time given that on a regular basis FedEx isn't by with my Amazon orders until five and six o'clock in the evening.

Anything that is expensive, I always check before signing. Common sense. Would you buy a car without test driving. When I bought a tv through Amazon, they delivered into the house. I plugged it in, checked for cracks, turned the tv on. Lo and behold an issue. Did not sign for it. They took it back on the spot.

People like you should definitely tip Lol

I never tip for delivery, other than pizza, but I refuse to sign for something expensive without checking if it's all there. Common sense.

Those guys that brought your TV inside you should've tipped. UPS guy for bringing a package to your door is a little retarded.

3PM is residential Standard Overnight commitment time. That's what service my last new release, iPhone had on it.

He has until 1030 am to get his Priority Overnight off without having a failure. If it's a slow day, he might do it. Of course his supervisor will ask "what are you doing putting off those S O packages during your Air Delivery"

Oh what fun days they were.

Why? At that time, tv came with white glove delivery which I paid extra for. That's besides the point with this thread. Would I tip UPS or FED EX? No.

Also, a trick that some of my customers did, they would order one small item for Priority overnight, then 20 large packages with Express saver service.

You'd go by there with the one package and have to put them all off by 10:30. If you didn't, especially in a rural area, your supervisor would question you about it.

No I don't tip them. I don't think they're going to be sweating any more than usual & they already are paid well.

Tip? Nah, prefer to give the whole thing.

As my daddy always said, wanna tip? "Don't bet on a horse named Seabiscuit!"

unless they are doing something beyond the expected, then heck no. they make more money than most of the folks on this board. just saying.

Last but not least;
Our theft was so bad at the big facilities, I had to count the panties in a box being delivered to Victoria's Secret. The customers demanded it.

I saw surveillance video from our main ramp, where guys could pick up a package, put their fist through it, pull the item out and have it hidden, in an instant.

Crazy I know, but true.

UPS/FedEx drivers are, according to my friend who works for UPS, paid quite well and have pretty decent benefits. They do have "bad" periods; e.g. iPhone launch days, Christmas, etc. But overall they're paid a good wage for what they do. I've also heard from my friend it is against company policy for them to accept tips of any kind; although that doesn't mean there are drivers who wouldn't accept tips. But I wouldn't tip simply because they are doing their job.
