sorry for the bump but it was getting flooded by 3.0 stuff.

Ive been making a few apps without the dev connection to see if its something i could get into and now that 3.0 beta is available its tilted me over the edge!

I am in the same position -- wanted to try my hand at some programming, but getting 3.0 would be icing on the cake.

However, I'm on an unlocked iPhone 3G, so come to think of it, I probably can't get 3.0 without losing the unlock. At least, until the Dev Team comes up with a way to safely upgrade without altering the baseband. Do they ever update pwnage tool for betas like this? I don't recall ever seeing it.

They did allow support for betas of 2.0 (not for betas of 2.0+). However, they recommended for casual users not to because of beta seeds expiring and bugs and stuff.

Developer recommended since the start.

You can download the SDK and use the simulator for free but to put anything on the iPhone you need to pay $99.

The dev site is sooooo slow right now since everyone is trying to download the new version. I don't even care about the new OS yet I want to play around with the new programming features.
