I know nothing about any form of coding or anything, but i would like to start learning it.

I would eventually like to be able to make iphone apps as a hobby, so my question is...

what would be the best book to get to start with learning whatever i need to know how to write apps?

Thanks.

As I'm sure you'll be told momentarily, there are several threads which already cover this in addition to an entire MacRumors' board dedicated to iPhone programming.

Regardless of what suggestions you get, if you don't mind reading online I'd suggest using the trial period for Safari Books to browse many of the iPhone, XCode and Objective-C books.
