    That's Easy

Return the phone to whoever you stole it from. I bet they know the password.

Do a DFU restore and you will be able to set it up as a new phone.

Fine. Google "Dfu mode" , follow the instructions and restore. But if you stole this, negative karma will be unleashed upon you tenfold!!

You gotta put the phone in restore mode before.
Read the link I gave you and follow the directions.

You gotta keep trying till you time it perfect.
It takes a few times to get it right.

Couldn't this all be cleared up by getting in touch with the original owner of the phone? I mean, you just spent hundreds of dollars on a used device from what sounds like a stranger; did you not obtain a phone number or email address or SOMETHING from the seller? How did you even link up to complete the sale? If it was through your friend, can your friend get ahold of this person? It seems like this could be all cleared up rather easily by contacting them and saying "Hey, what was that passcode again?"

So it's kinda like me saying "Hey, I bought this computer from a friend and forgot the password to it, can anyone help how to get past the login?" Anyway, just call the guy and ask for the pass code. It shouldn't be that hard...
