iPhone does not restore or update on desktop computer

Hi, I have two iphones and neither will update or restore from our main home computer. Both work just fine updating and restoring from my laptop but I want to figure out what the problem is with updating before I leave my wife for a few months and she wants to update.

The error I get is # 2006. Does anyone have experience with this sort of problem? I tried locating the iphone update files in the Library and doing a search on my computer but could not find anything to delete or edit. Let me know if anyone has advice!!! thanks!

Well, some PC's do have both unpowered and powered USB ports, and this will often only work on a powered port.

i have it plugged into the back of my imac directly. should be a powered usb port. i'll try changing ports. thanks.
