The iPhone Duo does not include an Action Button, according to the device's technical specifications page. The page's diagram., highlights volume up/down buttons at the top, Camera Control and side buttons on the right side, a USB-C port at the bottom, and microphones and speakers at the top and bottom.

On the iPhone 18 Pro models and earlier, the Action Button is located on the left side of the iPhone right above the volume up/down buttons.

The Action Button is a customizable button that can be assigned one of several actions. It can do things like activate Silent mode (the default), set a Focus, turn on the Flashlight, record a Voice Memo, activate Visual Intelligence, or run a Shortcut.

Apple introduced the Action Button with the iPhone 15 Pro, and all iPhones released since then have included the feature. The iPhone Duo is the first iPhone that has no option for a physical mute toggle. Silent mode will need to be turned on via Control Center.

The side button on the iPhone Duo includes Touch ID for unlocking the device, because it does not support Face ID. There's also a separate Camera Control button for launching the camera and capturing photos.

It might be a very good device, but not a particularly great phone on the go. I use the torch on my phone all the time, I can also use it one-handed, in the street in the pouring rain without worrying I'll drop it, I can put a thick protective case that covers the entire phone, I can toss it on the floor in the gym etc. Just not sure how the duo will hold up in daily life.

oh jeez... I read this and had to look at my iPhone 17 for where it said the action button was. I was thinking it meant the camera button on the right. Since I've owned the phone for a year now, it shows how much I used it, lol. I can confidently say "would not miss." 😁

This will be sorely missed! I use it as ring switch and to open Claude, so it will be annoying to not have it anymore.

I hope this does not mean it will eventually be removed from the rest of the iPhone lineup.

Doubt the Duo series will ever get it. Look at the design. Duo is clearly intended to be used open in landscape, iPad-style. Which iPad has an Action button?

Who uses that button anyway? It's a glorified mute switch that you accidentally press when trying to hit the volume button.
Can only speak for myself, but I use it everyday. Mapped a shortcut on it to skip the currently playing song. So I can have it in my pocket and still skip songs like in the good old iPod days without pulling out my device.
(Skipping songs via AirPods is awkward)
Phone is on muted all the time anyways.
