There's not going to be a Duo Pro. The Duo is the Duo , the Pro is the Pro. Two different types of phones that serve different needs. In 2 years we will probably get the iPhone Duo Pro. They’ll keep the Duo as the base foldable and the Duo Pro that will be $2299-$2399 with all of the pro features missing from the base duo. They’ll probably make it a bit bigger and say the increased size allowed them to add the extra camera and everything else missing from the Duo.
The single camera on the Air is my biggest complain about the Air. I've very disappointed they went with an ultra wide instead of a telephoto on the Dou, but it's an upgrade to the Air's camera system either way. It would have been better if they just removed the inside camera(not needed) and just added a third camera on the outside, or just remove it and make it cheaper.I'm taking your /s seriously but I for one do not care about any of it. The single camera on the Air has been more than enough for me.
I do wonder about the difference between touch id and face id in practice. Touch could be faster on this format.
iPhone base model dropped? what kind of sense does that even make?Future lineup:
iPhone (base model) will be dropped.
- iPhone Air
- iPhone Duo
- iPhone Pro
- MacBook Neo
- MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro
- iPad Air
- iPad Pro
Exactly this. Finally somebody gets it.they basically segmented them as the content creation pro workhorse device and the luxury executive lifestyle device. Pretty smart imo. sports car vs sedan

It's just a lot of camera stuff.
iPhone buyers, notoriously, don't care about camera stuff at all when cross shopping models and pondering upgrades.

I didn’t expect to want the Duo but I do. I also like taking photos. Plus my wife doesn’t want me to get the Due for cost reasons. Not sure if it’s worth worse photos and an unamused wife.
While the iPhone Duo is the first foldable iPhone ever and has some unique features like Duo FaceTime and forthcoming Apple Pencil support, the device lacks some other features available on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Typo in the post about orders being open now?
Pre-order doesn't start till September 12th, so no you CAN'T preorder it right now. 🙄
MacRumors has gotten extremely sloppy lately. Recent posts have been laced with typos and incorrect information - almost makes me wonder if they're using AI for some articles...

Or, as a tech lover, I can choose to live life to the fullest and get a device that I'll enjoy the heck out of for the next year and trade it in next year. For some this is the 18 Pro Max, for others it's the Duo. As Flossy Carter says in some of his review videos, you never know if this will be the last phone you'll ever buy. When I'm looking to potentially paying $2,000, variable aperture would be nice, along with the telephoto lenses and FaceID.
While I’m sure this phone will sell like crazy, it will benefit those who wait for the 2nd gen.
I have not noticed lack of LIDAR in moving from iPhone Pro Max to iPhone Air. The AR measuring still works on the Air, although it may be less accurate; others would have to chime in on that.Coming from a 17 Pro Max. Unsure how much I use the LIDAR without knowing it. Could someone tell me things I might be missing? Like can the Duo does the AR measuring with the Measure app or does that use LIDAR? Any other examples of LIDAR being used in unknown/unseen ways?
The main use case for lidar is actually faster and more accurate focus control. It's also used to create a more accurate depth pass in the image pipeline for simulated depth of field and post capture focus control.Coming from a 17 Pro Max.
