iPhone + EDGE

Wow!!!

First, I don't have a DATA plan with Rogers. I have only signed a 3 years contract with them in October 2006 (phone+voice mail). I have tried these setting:


APN: internet.com
Username: wap@rogers.com
Password: guest

Edge is working. Will I get charged. I should not be charged since I did bond with a data plan right?

How can this work?

3 year contract!!! Jesus is that normal in Canada?
 
So you're using an unlocked iPhone? Right?

Data plans usually allow you unlimited (unless you're UKian) data access, and if you don't have a data plan, you will be charged per kB, depending on your plan. I would take a look at your contract details if I were you.

Yes, I have an unlocked iPhone. Ok ,better be safe than sorry I guess.
 
It still works, enven if I use

APN: internet.com
Username: guest instead of WAP@ROGERS.CA
Password: guest

I would have tought that username was important...
 
Dude they'll charge you 3 arms and 5 legs.
They'll know they usage its from your phone/account.
Even if you dont have a data plan they'll bill you for all that.
And you know the rates they charge, good luck.
If I was you I'd call them up to add a data plan or not use edge at all.

That's what I will do tomorrow morning...BTW Edge is tuned off...

The OP should go to Settings/Usage and see what the EDGE network data says.

Mine is 62MB down and 8MB up, in three weeks, so if I didn't have a data plan, I'd owe $3500.

If you're with Rogers what kind of plan do you have for this and what does it cost?
 
I don't really need data plan. All I need is an Internet plan. However, Rogers max out Internet plan is for a 10MB. Another option is with Bell. Bell offers 1GB and unlimited internet access. Is 1GB/month enough for internet browsing...
