We've heard it will be 5.8 inch screen but the main reason I am hesitant to go for Edition model is the aspect ratio and actual screen size during video playback. Clearly the video wont play over the bit that's cut out. That means actual size is less than 5.8. Also the iPhone edition looks a lot narrower than the Plus models. Not sure that will make for a good viewing experience.

What do you guys think?

375pt x 812pt (multiply by 3 for full resolution)

Existing iPhone 7 is 375pt x 667pt. So basically just take away the top and bottom bezels of the 7, and you have the resolution/aspect ratio of the “X”

I'm not sure but having an s8 and 7+ with the bezeless display also it feels very weird watching Videos on it.

I think that comes from being used to bezels.

I don't think it will be 16:9. For sure.

It's definitely wider than 16:9, which fits within the leaked graphic as shown here in grey, but it doesn't nicely fit any other ratios used by movies.

The true blacks of the OLED display should help with immersion, though.

If you consider the whole face of the phone, including the rounded corners and camera cut-out, it looks like that might be 21:9 (or at least close) – but you're losing a lot of information if you do that.

And developers will have some good ol fun developing all their apps for the new aspect ratio!

I think if it has a 5.8" screen, it should be compared to the s8, not note7 or s8+.
