though find my phone worked well too.
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (AP) — A Texas businessman used an app to find his iPhone in a rural pasture after it fell about 9,300 feet during a flight from Houston.

The Wichita Falls Times Record News ( ) reported Thursday that Ben Wilson says his cellphone still works.

Wilson says he and a pilot were traveling home Monday in a Beechcraft Bonanza when a pressure change caused the passenger door to open slightly. Wilson didn't realize his cellphone fell out until after landing.

Wilson owns Gas Corporation of America in Wichita Falls. He and an employee used an app to narrow the search to near Jacksboro, more than 50 miles away.

The pair set on their search Tuesday, and ended up in a rural pasture. They found the cellphone under a mesquite tree.

I have seen it happen with a gopro before. But if it him leafy branches and fell in grass I can see it since then phone would flutter down and that's would slow it.

It depends what surface it hit, and how the impact happened. If the phone landed on a grassy field with no stones, then the impact would have been softened by the surface. If however the phone landed on a concrete surface then there wouldn't be much left of the phone. This is a non-story really, as most cases where people shatter their phones happens when they drop their devices on very hard or sharp surfaces (i.e. concrete).

Seems like a reasonably well off guy. You'd think he'd just buy another iPhone straight away. He must have really liked that particular one for some reason.
