iPhone file structure on USB Drive

I want to use a flash drive for my car stereo instead of using an iphone and I'm wondering if there's anyway to use the thumb drive with the phones file structure.

This way I don't need to always have the phone in the car. Anything like this possible?

Something you can try is to put music on your iPhone. Open iPhone Explorer and copy the Media folder's contents to the flash drive. Make sure you only put music on the iPhone and only fill up the iPhone to slightly less then the size of the flash drive.

That didn't work. Any other thoughts?

I thought about transfering every single file over to the flash drive, but I don't know if there's more to it (you'd have to assume that there is.)
