Starting with the A20 Pro chip all Pro chip features will not be unlocked unless you sign up to an annual subscription to Apple Creator Studio Suite.
Your “yearly upgrade”?This sounds good for my yearly upgrade but definitely will be passing on the folding gimmick .
Don’t read MacRumors if you want to enjoy your phones. Can I just enjoy my iPhone 17 please? I JUST got it. 😂
I see low probability of this.Theory: the iPhone 17 is now so close to the Pro line that future spec bumps will not increase sales.
The reason there will be no iPhone 18 launch in September is because there is no iPhone 18.
Instead Apple will just bump the price of the 17 Pro down to $949 whilst keeping the 17 at $799 for another year to combat rising costs.
Come 2027 the 17 Pro will then become $899 and take the place of the base models which will be permanently written out of the equation.
The 18e in 2027 will gain the 0.5x from the iPhone 12 (12mpx, no autofocus).
I know, I read the news, but, call me Doubting Thomas, I’ll believe it when I see it.…Creaseless foldable OLEDs were covered during CES 2026. It's not an Apple-exclusive technology and was always inevitable
…No. You can take life less seriously as you please no one has to co-sign or echo chamber your levity in a public forum. It was joke... lighten up
I know you’re joking but it will be Apple running Google’s model remotely. There will also be a lot of local AI run, as there is currently (not just the Apple Intelligence functions). It will also be 1.3 kg, and the A20 performance is extremely important for Apple Intelligence Google will provide remotely.
I can finally ditch the iPad and have an iPhone and iPad mini in one device. 😎As a Galaxy Fold user for years now, great to see Apple acknowledge the foldable form factor. While I personally will be buying the Z Fold 8 due to its larger display, hopefully Apple will make foldables more mainstream.
They should also stop writing in English, since that's frustrating for the southern hemisphere as well. Let's bring back Esperanto. Can macrumors please stop using seasons to describe when things are expected. Whilst I know your USA based It’s incredibly frustrating for those not in the northern hemisphere. Months would be ideal or even quarters, ie second quarter of 2027.
We think you'll love itI won’t be buying the Apple Fold (iPhone if old?) but I look forward to a new shiny iPhone 18. The best iPhone yet!
Not sure that's a feasible way to run something. So, they'll release iFoldOS with the new phones.People (not me!) have been wanting MacOS to run on iPads. But what we are really going to get is iPads running on iPhones. Closed, it’s iOS. Opened, it’s iPadOS.
Hear hear!I feel your pain, speaking as a Canadian that wishes reported prices displayed currency, or Amazon links mentioned "US Only". Not everyone lives in the US.
Now to keep on-topic with the article... isn't it incredible just how freaking sophisticated the SoC is getting? I'd love to know how much Apple engineers directly contribute to the advancement of the chip technology, or when we reach the limits of silicon, rendering the name "Apple silicon" obsolete. 😃
Agree. If it runs real iPadOS when open with zero restrictions or limitations, it will be an insta-buy for me, as I am an iPad Mini user. If it doesn’t there isn’t even a point in making it.For most of us, we need to see the software part...we know Apple on hardware is on top
But on this we need more than just iOS on the big screen like first ipad was. We need ipadOS itself on the inner display
Apple has multiple product line offerings to satisfy different customer base. Glad to hear that one of the product offering satisfies you. Other customer base who loves to have a folding phone will be satisfied soon. Great and commended job, Apple!I won’t be buying the Apple Fold (iPhone ifold?) but I look forward to a new shiny iPhone 18. The best iPhone yet!
Folding phone is not a gimmick but it is a new unique transformative experience iPhone line offering. It is iPhone and iPad mini hybrid or two in one device which serves those who love pocketable mini iPad functioning also as a phone. It will be a blow out on the folding phone market line. Surely, iPhone owners who love a new form of iPad and iPhone in one pocketable device will want it. Kudos to Apple by offering this transformative experience for iPhone users! This sounds good for my yearly upgrade but definitely will be passing on the folding gimmick .
