Not buying the first gen. Not buying the second gen. Might consider the third or fourth gen if they can put the cameras on par with iPhone Pro and get the internal display really durable and the hinge is water proof. And that’s probably only if it’s like $1799 and they’ve worked out all the quirks. And even then I’ll be off the iPhone upgrade program. I’m not spending $900/year for an iPhone. Would probably keep it for three or four years and then sell it, and I hate going through the rigmarole of selling my phone.

So basically I’m probably never getting one, lmao. Not until my house is paid off, and then subsequently buy and pay off my Porsche 911 Turbo. Gotta have my mid-life crisis first. Priorities!

Think the price will be $1999. Will be disappointing if the screen size is small. Waiting to hear the aspect ratio. Lack of telephoto lens too will be a major downside for me. Color options too are extremely disappointing. But just like the X, think it will come in two colors - black and white only.

The Butterfly Effect: A butterfly waves it's wings in Cupertino ... In this case, the butterfly keyboard waves it keys and the whole world gets terrified it will happen again.

What could possibly go wrong with the first generation of the Fold?

I am still struggling to “think outside of the box” about this device, because do we have the technology for a screen to bend and open, perhaps hundreds of times per day, and not develop a crease and eventually could tear at the crease?

Will they jump backwards by forcing me to open the phone to check my notifications rather than simply glancing at it? Did they even put the forethought into it at all?
Did you miss the part about the 5.5” external screen? That is what you would see when the phone was folded and where notifications would appear. Your snide comment about “forethought” seems unjustified.

APPLE ORIGINAL FILMS PRESENTS: BENDGATE 2 — THE UNFOLDENING

From the visionary minds that brought you Courage (2016 headphone jack removal) and Donglegate (2020 adapter trilogy), comes the aluminum-bending sequel a decade in the making.

In a world obsessed with thinness, one phone dared to curve under pressure.
Now, the truth will bend back.

Starring: The iPhone 6 (restored in 4K), the iPhold, a Levi’s 511 Slim Fit cameo, and Jony Ive as The Narrator Who Sighs Elegantly.

Critics rave:
⭐️ “A masterclass in denial and anodized drama.” – The Verge
⭐️ “Half documentary, half apology, all aluminum.” – Bloomberg
⭐️ “More flexible than Apple’s trade-in values.” – Wall Street Bets

This summer, Apple TV+ invites you to re-experience the stress test that changed everything.
Because some legends… don’t just break — they flex.

BENDGATE 2: THE UNFOLDENING
Rated A for ‘Absolutely avoid putting it in your back pocket.’
Only on Apple TV+. Coming soon to a Genius Bar near you.
Judging by the Air, Apple seems to be very aware of the dangers of bending and has put a lot of thought into how to prevent it for the Air to great effect. It seems likely that they will also apply that to the upcoming Fold phone, don’t you think?

I doubt it would be 5.5 inch as iphone AIR was the test bed for the foldable, which didn't work. For me iphone air's screen size was the biggest let down. I was in dilemma to get iPhone 16 plus for my wife or to wait and get air when it releases, but since most of the rumours pointed out it would be 5.5 inches, i kind of made the difficult choice to buy an iPhone a month before new ones releases.

Because they used titanium on the sides and not cheap aluminium to deliberately make it thin and light and because of that they got caught with their pants down.
The reason why the pro models are now back to aluminium instead of titanium is so the air and potentially the long awaited behind the competition foldable looks better than the pro models

Yeah the air has not failed yet because it’s not been discontinued yet cutting production in this years model is not the same as being discontinued because the updated model of the air will more than likely come out next year

According to multiple credible corroborated leaked rumour reports, it seems increasingly highly likely that it could indeed. Prolific leaker advised caution, but remained optimistic: 'You can't go wrong with 'maybe' - let's see what tomorrow brings'.

No. Apple has moved to using the “Apple Something” naming style for all new product categories. For example, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch, or Apple AirPods. Only the older devices that were launched long ago, like the iPhone or iMac, have kept their names because their brand recognition is so strong. But for new categories, it’s always “Apple Something,” so this one will probably be called Apple Fold. Though not really, because Apple will come up with a much cooler name for it. For example, Vision Pro isn’t called Apple VR Glasses. But whatever. This Fold is going to be a flop anyway.

It’s going to flop.
Oh don’t worry Apple’s fold is not going to fail
Because according to some apple fans
Because they spend the most and their products are far superior than Samsung’s flagship devices then it’s going to sell billions & be sold out for the following 6 months
Because it’s going to be so amazing compared with competitors foldable’s

boy, a lot of negativity in this thread for something that is completely unknown and unreleased.

I'm in the market for a foldable. The Z is gorgeous. There is no middle crease at all. They've come a very long way with this tech.

Apple has 7 years of patents and work on this. They've been obsessing about getting this right for probably 10 years. Personally, I'm excited.

If it supports apple pencil when unfolded I'll be ecstatic.

The thing is my mum changed from an iPhone 15 to a fold 7 and it’s an impressive device in every aspect same as the flip impressive set of devices

Just met someone with a folding phone. It’s developed a huge hump in the fold line, as one would assume would happen over time.

So spend double for a phone that has a much shorter usable life.

No thanks.

It's as much a new product category as the Air is and that was called iPhone Air, not Apple Air. I hope they go with iPhonebook.
