Hello Mac World, do you all think the iPhone Fold Ultra will be able to take high temperatures while outside in the Texas heat like the 17 Pro Max does well with its liquid cooling vapor chamber? Don’t want to buy the iPhone Fold Ultra and then it can’t take high temperatures and freezes up. Rather spend the money on a durable 18 Pro Max with vapor cooling chamber.

It'll effectively be two Airs joined together (sort of). So, it'll behave more or less like an Air IMO. However, you'll get a different answer from everyone. So lets wait for the official release.
Yeah and the iPhone Air as is does not have any type of vapor cooling chamber like the Pro Max does. We’ll have to wait for some more leaked specs to come out. I know the A20 Chip will be super energy efficient but just don’t want to spend $2000 plus for a phone and it freezes because it’s soo thin and their is no vents for the heat or any type of thermal cooling system.

I'd avoid getting the first gen ultra phone anyways..

Apple failed to acknowledge or provide a solution for how warm some iPhone models run until recently. Denial was their prior position of choice.

OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Asus, iQOO, Motorola all embraced vapor cooling chambers long before Apple.

It will be interesting to see what Apples approach is with their folding phone.

Yes I may avoid the 1st generation and let people use the device and have Apple 🍎 listen to the complaints feedback and improve them in the 2nd generation fold. Apple 🍎 will have to hit a home run ⚾️ in order for me to spend $2000 plus on a phone 📱 💰

The A20 2nm chip in the iPhone Ultra will produce way less heat than previous models because it is so advanced chip node and energy efficient. Apple will want consumers to use the Ultra like a iPad Mini and open the device a lot several times and play games and watch movies and multitask instead of being folded all the time, so hopefully they will have some additional cooling method other than the energy efficient 2nm A20 chip for that Heavy duty type of usage.

Rumors are the iPhone Ultra will be thinner than the iPhone Air when unfolded so hopefully it doesn’t heat up freeze up when doing heavy tasks.

Z Fold 7 does fine and has no vapor chamber.

Yes, my Z Fold7 runs cool, fast and efficient. Samsung has done an exceptional job engineering and designing this phone. Durable and highly useful it’s changed my opinion about folding phones.

I’ve carried an iPhone and Android phone concurrently for years, it’s the nature of my work. Since acquiring the Z Fold7 upon it’s release my appreciation of Android has only grown stronger.

Are you getting the iPhone Fold Ultra with its creaseless design and other nice tech features?

It isn't two Airs joined together (not sure why that myth persists).

Taiwan sources last year already confirmed it would have a VC.

There's nothing like first hand experience, I've learned the controversy over the "crease" isn't as serious as some imagine it to be. Keyword "imagine". Once one owns and uses the device, the crease isn't a big deal. I'm not defending Samsung or advocating, but the primary feature that matters to me is the form factor and size of the unfolded display.

Being very eager to learn more about the iPhone Fold Ultra, I was disappointed as the deal breaker is the form factor. It's an odd shape, not well suited to the type of work I do with my Z fold7.

I find that the size and shape of my Z is excellent and would be even better if the unfolded display was increased from 8.0 inches to 8.3 inches. The iPhone Ultra is too wide and the display is too small at 7.73 inches.

Comparison

Surely Apple will sell these no matter its ungainly odd size, as the Apple logo alone will be enough for many people.

Yes rumors say the iPhone Ultra will be much thinner than the iPhone Air when unfolded, razor 🪒 thin.

Even though it’s Apple 🍎 people will be having to finance this product instead of outright buying with the $2000 plus price tag rumors are saying 💰 📱

Yeah I haven’t heard too many rumors of the iPhone Ultra having a cooling vapor chamber like the 17 Pro Max, so that’s good to know and hopefully it stays true.

there has been zero rumors stating the ultra will have a VC. just be aware it will not have a better camera system then the pro phones due to only having a wide and a ultra wide camera so expect zoom to only be x10 like phones without telephoto

A lot of the rumors are only in Chinese/Taiwanese publications, especially for small stuff like this. Most English language sites don't report because they can't read or just don't bother.

The two confirmed suppliers are:

The iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a updated improved Cooling Vapor Chamber that’s stainless steel inclosed. Hopefully the iPhone Fold Ultra uses this new thermal cooling system.

“The iPhone 18 Pro Max continues the thermal management system first introduced in the iPhone 17 Pro series, utilizing an Apple-designed, laser-welded stainless steel vapor chamber. This system uses sealed, vaporizing deionized water to efficiently draw heat away from the A20 Pro chip.”
