Like loads of you, I ususally dont go very far without my ipod, I cant live without it

with the iPhone G4/HD coming in the summer, the 64gb capacity should be the top end for these devices, i could easily fit my entire music collection on there currently totalling under 15GB and still have tons of room for apps and everything else, and narrows down it down to one device in my pocket instead of two.

Anyone else think of using there next iphone as an ipod replacement?

You could fit it all on the current 32gb then. The iPhone is definitely meant to be an ipod replacement

The new iPhone isn't any more of an iPod replacement then any of the previous versions of iPhone's were.

Do we now have 64GB NAND chips?

Then you could easily use a 32GB iPhone.

    I don't understand this post.

Yes there is 64gb chips they are used in the highest end ipod touch,
I could indeed buy a 32gb but i rather have the satisfaction that i wont run out off space on a 64gb model over the term off the phone contract:).

It's my understanding that the iPod has 2x32GB NAND chips. The iPhone does not have the space for 2 chips due to the space required for the radio chipset.

The iPhone is a great replacement. Only issue is the space... but seeing as your current music collection is below 15GB, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you've got a 32GB model (or better... ).

Someone must have a lot of music then. It would work for me as a replacement.

Speaking of space, with the logic board decreasing in size so much is it possible Apple will be able to shoehorn in 2 NAND chips?

Maybe I didn't word it right, but what I was trying to say is that any version of the iPhone should replace the need for an iPod. None more then the other, unless disk space is an issue.
