Hello,

Recently I've purchased a 2nd hand iPhone off someone, unfortunately, I was not notified that the backing of this iPhone (which is white) is not the original, (originally it is black) I tried taking the iPhone to genius bar to get it replaced, (power button does not work). It was working, until, just as I was about to sign the waiver, the genius tells me that the case was not original, he brought a black covered replacement and noticed that mine was white. Because the backing was replaced, that means the iPhone was opened and warranty is void, is this true? I asked him if I replaced it, would he turn a blind eye, he told me he couldn't say yes, but he gave me one of those silent nods.

What I want to know is, what my next course of action should be,

1. Resell the iPhone
2. Get the backing replaced with a black one.
3. Try again at a different store/different time.

Will the genius who's helped me, blacklist my serial or somehow?

Thanks for the help

Just get the power button fixed and if the back case really bothers you swap it back to black.

Oh, I forgot to mention theres a bit of scratches on the screen too, so I'd have to get that repaired as well.
