Am I the only one having this problem?

It seems that if my battery gets beneath the 20% (i.e. when the red battery starts to display) it will run out of power even if it is attached to an A/C wall charger (i.e. the power of the iPhone seems to be greater than the power available to charge it?)

The result is that iPhone turns off (due to lack of power?) but in the morning (this typically happens overnight) when I turn the phone on the battery is now charged? (i.e. because the phone is 'off' it's not using power so the charging can replenish the battery?)

    Further info:

It's not the charger. I've had it replaced and checked it on other phones - it appears to be working fine.

It's not because I'm running a power hungry app. The phone is typically in the home screen state (no app running, screen black/locked) and I have Wifi & 3G both OFF.

Is this behaviour unique to me?

    What firmware are you on?

I'm on 3.0 GM and I have the same, or at least very similiar issue: my iPhone won't charge so when it's on its last legs, it turns off despite being connected to a charger. It also gets pretty hot when it happens.

I discovered that it happens when I enable push notifications or push e-mail. After I disable them and do a reboot, the phone charges fine.

    Its worth a shot.

I have battery problems too. Perhaps trying to charge your iPhone connected to your computer (aka, put the USB into your computer, and it will charge). Try resetting your iphone? I hope this helped.

If this fails, take it to the apple store and they will test the battery. I suppose if it is broken they will replace it.

    Thanks for the responses...

I'm on OS 2.2.1 (waiting for OS 3.0 release; and feeling ripped off as I'm in Oz and it is the 17th here but we have to wait for the 18th :( )

I do have 'push' email so I might try turning that off tonight...the main issue here is I use the iPhone as an alarm clock and I'm running out of excuses for sleeping in!

@Totter - works fine via the USB to the Computer (hence 'the mystery'); going to an Apple Store could be sound advice.
